Engineering Manager
100% Onsite Position - Scottsdale, AZ
Target Starting Salary: $100,000 - $130,000/year
No Direct Reports - Less than 5% travel
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced, driven, and energetic Engineering Manager to lead and oversee engineering teams in the design, development, and delivery of custom, heavy, mobile automation solutions. This role requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach, capable of balancing leadership, technical expertise, and project management to ensure the successful execution of engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
- Manage, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
- Assign projects and tasks, balancing workloads and ensuring timely delivery of objectives.
- Recruit, onboard, and train engineering staff as needed.
Project Oversight:
- Oversee design and engineering processes from concept through production, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, production teams, and clients to define requirements, set timelines, and allocate resources.
- Monitor project progress, addressing technical challenges and providing guidance to resolve issues.
Technical Expertise:
- Provide high-level input on designs, including mechanical, electrical, and software components of automation systems.
- Stay updated on industry advancements, tools, and technologies to implement best practices.
- Review and approve engineering documentation, including SolidWorks models, schematics, and technical reports, and
- SolidWorks PDM implementation and administration experience.
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure all engineering outputs meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for design, development, and testing.
Strategic Planning:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in engineering processes, tools, and team capabilities.
- Collaborate with leadership to align engineering efforts with business goals.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering field (master’s preferred).
Experience:
- 15+ years of experience in engineering within automation or manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Proven track record in oversight of custom automation design, contracting, assembly, and commissioning.
- Formative experience with robotics systems and implementation.
- Heavy mobile industrial equipment experience is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Comfortable with managing multiple competing priorities.
- Exceptional at oversight and control of engineering processes in fast-paced environment.
- Advanced SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM experience.
- PLC programming knowledge.
